Cinnabar - Virga Silk Lace
The colour story:
Cinnabar is a stone (mercury sulfide) that is a rich rusty red that was once used to create pigments for painting beautiful reds and russets. Cinnabar is a nod to that warm rust stone that was so influential (and toxic) and brought lush colour to our forebears.
As with all hand-made things, there is always some variation between skeins even within dyelots. If you plan to make a larger project, blend your skeins through transition rows.
The yarn story:
Virga Lace is a soft, lustrous and drapey 2 ply yarn made of 50% superwash Bluefaced Leicester wool and 50% tussah silk. This yarn will bring soft loft and good drape to your lace projects or can be held double with other fine yarns for a luxurious finished object. Please note that silk does not have any stitch memory and once blocked will not spring back so please block judiciously and handle gently while wet.
